We recently have been working with Little Four Eyes and Peeps Eyewear to create a Great glass play day t-shirt!
The Great Glasses Play Day is a great way to Celebrate kids who wear glasses. You can celebrate online or in person at parks and playgrounds around the world. Lets show how PROUD we are of children in glasses. Its not an easy thing to have a child in glasses and the GGPD is a great way to meet others in your community and to find support.
This shirt has been a lot of fun!
I wanted to do a quick post and let everyone see a little glimpse into how I design a shirt. Most the time I have ideas come to me while watching a movie, or in the evenings while I am in bed trying to fall asleep. I also do a lot of research online. I want to show you the process of the GGPD T-shirt and how I go about creating the design. I do many similar things with some of the other shirt designs.
I start with doing some sketches, this is normally done with my daughter. I can totally give her the credit for the glasses robot! 🙂 I sat down and asked her what she wanted me to draw! She always wants to draw robots! Some of the shirts are done completely on the computer but I like being able to work along side my kids and have fun with them instead of spending all that time on the computer.

The way I designed the GGPD T-shirt I wanted to be able to piece together and create a Bunch of kids wearing glasses and eye patches. I came up with this…..
It may not look like much but the entire shirt design was created from this one sketch. Creating my sketch this way makes it so that I can create many designs from one sketch instead of doing a bunch of individual sketches. After I get everything I need on paper I then scan it and transform it into vector art in Illustrator.
Now this is the really fun part. I took each separate part and put them together to create a bunch of fun Kiddos in glasses.
I decided to go with a green and turquoise blue from the Great Glasses Play day logo
After creating a bunch of cute little kids in glasses and eye patches I played with the layout. I came up with three designs.
We decided on the middle design! And now we are getting sooooo excited about the GREAT GLASSES PLAY DAY! After ordering is up we will screen print with a local company and ship out the shirts!
